Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the attitudinal dimension: affective and cognitive components in students of Secondary Elementary Education of the Centro Educativo Mixto de Galapa-Colombia, after having carried out a test with images and expository texts related to electromagnetism issues. A sample of 80 students was initially selected and then semi-structured interviews in focus groups were applied to a subsample of 40 students and a content analysis was carried out with the use of the Nvivo software to meet the objectives of this study. It was found that, in terms of the cognitive, expanding their knowledge was recurrent in all groups and scales, and in the affective, they privileged improving doubts, confusion, and motivation, among others. It is suggested to consider these results when using images in expository texts given their ability to influence emotions and learning processes in the student body.
