Abstract

The objective of this article is to present the results of a diagnosis of the training needs of novice primary school teachers carried out by two Normal Schools in Baja California. The research was developed with a mixed sequential approach in three stages: 1) definition of the dimensions of the construct; 2) obtaining evidence of validity of the instrument and 3) application of the questionnaire. The questionnaire was applied to 1,010 teachers with up to five years of work experience. The teachers request training in three main topics: Educa-tional inclusion, Legal responsibility and ethical behavior and School coexistence. It is concluded that the article provides a valid and reliable instrument for the diagnosis of trai-ning needs and contributes to the knowledge of novice teachers in our country. Likewise, its results feedback the curriculum of teacher education programs and can contribute to the design and implementation of policies for the continuous training of teachers at the state level, based on research results.
